Hi

a buddy of mine has a golf 1 citi, 1.4 i. this year he is planning on making it abit quicker, but he wants to keep it normally aspirated, he is planning on putting a 2lt 8v(2E longblock) golf motor in it, the thing where we need abit of help is, what pistons work well on there? i heard caravelle pistons but what size? 2.1? 2.3? and to fit them in there do you also need the crank and flywheel from the caravelle? must we knife the crank? balance the bottom end? he is going to gasflow the head, what cam will be ideal? 276, 288? or should we leave the bottom end stock and spend money on the head and invest in a set of throttles and management? is that mp9 system good enough for that car or will management be needed? have any of you tried or know any tips on getting power out those motors, he doesnt wana break the bank also, but he doesnt mind spendin abit, he will be doing it over this year, the motor will be purchased in a month or two and from there he will strip it and see what can be done,.

any help would be appreciated guys,

thanks

regards,
Jordache

I know there is a combination of the Caravelle pistons with the TDI crank, but you will need to look for the details on www.vwclub.co.za as I'm not too clued up on the N/A conversions.

I know a decent head flow and a proper cam will do wonders, but the nitty gritty I know not...
